It’s my favorite weekend of the year in Charlottesville! Or one of them. In my top 5 – definitely. And my sartorial moment of film festival street style. I love The Virginia Film Festival, and have attended every year since I was a 4th year student at UVa – that’s 10 years in a row! It’s been an incredible decade of celebrating film – local and international. Here’s my list of film picks for this year’s festival!
Linnea’s VFF Film Picks
I always try to see as many films as possible when The Virginia Film Festival arrives. It’s sort of my goal to spend as much of the weekend as possible with my glasses on, inside dark theaters. Every year, it’s hard to choose which films to see, but here is my original list of films I wanted to see this year, organized by day…
- Green Book | Thursday @ 7pm *Opening Night Film*
- The Favourite | Friday @ 7pm
- A Tribute to Christoph Waltz | Saturday @ 1pm
- American Dreamer | Saturday @ 5pm
- Ben is Back | Saturday @ 6:30pm
- Roma | Saturday @ 8:30pm
- Seats at the Table | Sunday @ 2pm *Local Filmmaker!*
- Widows | Sunday @ 7:30pm
- Little Woods | Sunday @ 8pm
- The Front Runner | Sunday @ 7:30pm *Closing Night Film*

Shop Girl’s Film Festival Street Style
First of all, this Burberry coat. Second of all, this BURBERRY COAT! This coat (as of October 31, 2018) is still available for purchase at Darling Boutique, and a freaking classic gem. This tartan plaid coat is a pre-1999 mint-condition coat, and the perfect Winter piece for the sartorialist.
To show how film-hopping street style from this shop girl (who will work half of the day and then film-hop half of the day all weekend), I paired this amazing coat with some of my own #darlingfinds for a layered look perfect for a comfortable – yet ultra chic – days at the movies.
Under the Burberry coat, I layered by ASOS leather jacket with a simple mock neck short sleeve tee and leopard print silk bandana. Add my most favorite pair of relaxed, high-waisted Levi’s (aka the mom jean) that I cut and distressed myself last week to create the trendy raw hem look. And don’t forget a comfortable pair of shoes! These Steve Madden platforms I scored at Darling a few months ago are my ABSOLUTE favorite right now. I am so stinkin’ stoked platforms are back. Cue my Spice Girls dreams from middle school.
Of course, I’m also wearing my favorite Molly Virginia Made painted leather earrings, locally made right in Richmond, Virginia. I love the lilac color, and the statement earring look without all the heavy earring problems.
Don a classic statement coat over this easy leather jacket ensemble for an ultra chic, and ultra warm, look for all those day-to-night November temps. That’s how this shop girl takes on film festival street style.
