Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? If not the Charlottesville area, what brought you here?

I am from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. 10 hours straight north from Charlottesville. Over the years in my travels visiting friends in the Virginia area, I met a beautiful girl who I married this past October which brought me here. I now call Charlottesville my home.

As a local artisan, describe what you do in town.

I try and think of ways to use wood in simple, original, and beautiful ways. Building coffee tables, bed frames, harvest tables and anything else that I can come up with.

It's story time. Talk about your collaboration with Darling Boutique.

Darling caught my eye while I was downtown one day. I later met the girls who owned it at an event and it made perfect sense. Cute colorful store, vibrant and friendly girls. Who wouldn't want to work with them?

Where do you go to be creative?

Outdoors or in the shop.

What aspects of life excite you, stir your affections, fuel your passions, inspire your art?

The ability to create and have someone else admire what you do. I love being able to enjoy something and doing it as often as you can. Always inspired by stories and storytelling.

When and why did you become an artisan? / How did you get into this business?

Over the years my father taught me how to use my hands to create things. I would later build houses in my college days which helped refine my woodworking skills. When I moved to Charlottesville I had to wait to get my green card, so I messed around with wood in the shop until I developed some nice pieces that I could be proud of.

What are you working on right now?

Working on some new coffee table designs.

Where can someone find your products?

The series Our Darlings will spotlight our local and global collaborations, featuring artisans and brands that we are bringing into the shop!
