The Be Free Series Continues: Week 7 | Faithfulness
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.” Hebrews 11:1
I think of what it must have been like in Noah’s time with the world around him in utter chaos. People were living like animals; killing, misusing and living their lives nose deep in sin. He and his family were building an ark in a time when people didn’t understand the concept of rain. Can you imagine that? God calling you to do something that those around you cannot even begin to fathom? But Noah had faith to seek the Lord, hear from him, and BUILD. He waited upon the Lord, but he waited in action. He didn’t sit back and ask God to miraculously build it. (Even though we know that God could have.) He allowed God to use him. Despite lack of understanding or direction, he knew that God commanded him to build an ark, and he did so in faith for over 100 years.
“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.” Hebrews 11:7
Faith is seeking God and pursuing Him wholeheartedly in the good times and in the bad times.
Faith is laying down our lives and our desires at the cross and allowing God to use us in His time and in His way to further His kingdom.
Faith is believing in what is unseen - that God can breathe life into dust, heal the sick, and give sight to the blind.
Lord, help us to have faith in action. Help us to have mighty faith that fear cannot reach. Help us to seek you in every area of our lives to give our hearts fully to you. Lord, use us to move mountains in your Holy name.
My hope and prayer for this devotional series is to have each of us grow together and grow in our relationship with Jesus. May we gain a better understanding of our identity in Him. I have been seeking His voice and guidance on where to start this devotional and I believe that this is the best place to start – this “Be Free” series. It will take us each one step closer to being truly free in Jesus. There is no freedom apart from Christ Jesus, who died for our sins, and once we experience that freedom, we can truly live.
Each week during this series we will soak in His truth and apply it to our daily life – one fruit of the Spirit at a time.
