Earthly Renewal: Using God’s Creation to Remain Connected and Fruitful

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” –John 1:3

Really think about this. Without Christ, nothing would have been nor would anything be made now. He did it all. He created the mountains and the seas we are entranced with. The air we breathe, the food we eat, the grass we lay among, the streams we play in. This is so cool! The Lord created all of the Earth for us to enjoy. He wants us to use it and steward it for our wellbeing and immerse ourselves in the beauty and bounty of His creations.

It’s Summertime. The time of year when the grass is green and the sun shines bright. The sunsets (and sunrises) I’ve remembered best are the ones during the Summer outside, sitting on the beach. I feel warm and comforted by those warm colors. I love the warm weather; I can sit outside and soak in the Lord’s presence. I believe that the Lord uses the Earth for many metaphors aligned with our lives.

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” –Romans 1:20

We can see how great He is through the vibrant colors He paints at day break and night fall, and in the powerful storms that fill the Summer sky. Those storms can be a reminder of how a rough season in life will come and go. They are only there to water us and help us grow stronger. The Lord reminds us daily of His presence in our lives. All we have to do is look, see, touch, feel Him in the world around us.

Response questions:

Where do you see God in nature?

Does that part of nature resemble anything going on in your spiritual life?
