Spring Style Inspiration: Lilac Grey

Linnea White

Spring is starting to sprout here in the shop, with new Spring arrivals sprinkling in and blushed, flushed Spring hues scattering the racks. And we're having a serious moment with Lilac Grey right now.

This entire outfit was inspired by the arrival of locally made, small batch nail polish in Lilac Grey. This color is perfect for transitioning to Spring (and so is grey). So are layers. And this outfit embraces Spring hues and Spring layers in darling fashion.

This lilac hued floral dress by American Eagle's latest brand offshoot - Don't Ask Why - is perfect for transitioning into Spring. Add a sweater or jacket for an easy layered look, like this cozy light grey Loft one. And why not keep it sassy with an equally cozy felt hat from Free People, and a pair of grey booties from Madewell. Oh, and of course, because matchy matchy, this locally made leather choker was the perfect lilac hue for pairing with this look.

What are some of your favorite Spring hue color combinations?

The Trench Coat of All Trenches: Burberry

Linnea White

Well, hey there, 60 degree weather on February 1st! With Spring arrivals coming in the shop now, and apparently random Spring temperatures, we decided it was time to hit the city in transitional Spring style featuring the trench coat of all trench coats - Burberry.

The trench coat is a classic closet staple, and it doesn't get much more classic than a Burberry. The trench is timeless, effortless, and oh-so-chic. It is also an ideal outwear piece for transitioning from Winter or Spring (or Summer to Fall).

Keeping the outfit underneath clean and simple, this crisp white Banana Republic blouse was the perfect compliment to a leather panels khaki Anthropologie skirt. Add a red lip (locally made, of course) and this stunning red Kate Spade arm candy, this outfit is screaming "city slicker."

You'll see new versions of the trench hitting the racks this season, in softer textures and fabrics for a flowy layered Spring look. But this classic tailored Burberry trench is simply timeless, and is ready to hit the city streets.

Winter Vintage Glam

Linnea White

The holiday parties may have passed, but Winter Vintage Glam never fades. The timeless touch of whimsical pieces and eye catching glam is a dashing combination. This outfit mixes vintage finds with contemporary brands flawlessly for a look oozing style with class!

We already know I have a thing for Winter Whites (from clothes to hair color), so when this vintage Angora sweater came into the shop last week, the swooning commenced, inspiring this entire outfit. Paired with a pair of Topshop tuxedo style jogger pants, sassy black heels, and this stunning feathery jacket, I was oozing sartorial elegance.

When the pieces are so effortlessly chic, accessories are meant to compliment, not overpower. After all, we're talking about Vintage Glam here. The longline jacket and the long necklace help contrast the cropped sweater to lengthen the neck and torso, making a curvier, shorter frame extra tall. A pair of medallion earrings pair fabulously with the velvet embroidered vintage clutch, and, of course, what's more retro than a classic red lip.

From Winter cocktail party, New Year's Eve party, Winter wedding reception, or just for a night on the town, this outfit is ready to just about any Winter soirée.

What's your favorite way to wear vintage pieces?

Going West in the Shearling Vest

Linnea White

We're going west(ern) with this faux shearling vest - the perfect layering piece for this transitional autumn weather. Because vest weather is upon us.

Shearling lined vests will forever be fashionable, says I, because they're comfortable, versatile, and chic. Fashionable and functional, the right vest can be worn as an extra layer under a jacket, or by itself for a lighter layer. Find one that fits your frame, and wear it close to your heart. Try layering it with soft, flowy fabrics for contrast, like this boho pattern dress or a floral number, or wear it over denim and a sweater for a casual, daytime cozy look.

Another Fall necessity for every darling gal - the lace up bootie. These leather beauties by Madewell carry the lug sole with a more Victorian heel and shape, perfect for dressing up or dressing down.

And if you aren't wearing tassels yet this season, get on that train - and do it all while supporting locally made jewelry. New artisan in the shop, Pan & Tea, is killing the fiber tassel game, from necklaces to earrings, she's your gal.

How are you styling vests this season? Loving the tassel trend as much as us?

Autumnal Hues: Falling for Oxblood

Linnea White

DSCF3117_cropped.jpg

Happy November, darlings! It's a new month, and Autumn is upon us. And that means the season of rich Autumnal hues and cozy Fall layers is also upon us - praise! Burgundy, bordeaux, black currant - it's peek season for rich reds and deep plums. Think oxblood, that rich purple/red hue. This universally flattering palette is easily mixed and matched for a head-to-toe look, or blended with other warm Fall hues, like rust (Potter's Clay), mustard (Spicy Mustard), and blush pinks (Dusty Cedar).

Darling shop gal, Meredyth, is styled in a Maria D coat that brings out the auburn hues in her hair, and plays with the oxblood tones of her lace top. Topped with locally made accessories and the perfect lace up Born booties, this outfit is ready for every Fall adventure.
