Boho Spring Style: Easy Breezy

Linnea White

MG_0445_cropped-1.jpg

While last week was all about bright floral prints and the Spring color report, I was drawn to this beautiful black and white number for this week's Dressing Up outfit, so ethereal and enigmatic. The flowy boho Spring frock paired perfectly with our stunning new pieces by Dinosaur Toes and new Iced Coffee lipstick color by Kitsune's Closet.

With the 70's making a come back on the runways in the past year, there are plenty of reasons to embrace your inner boho this Spring and Summer. From crocheted looks to embroidered textures, flowy frocks and vibrant patterns, let your flower child out for a style spin. Dance in the warm Spring breeze, hair wild and free.

How to Dress for a Polo Match | Darling on the Trail

Linnea White

Darling is on the trail – the Monticello Wine Trail, that is. Our first stop: King Family Vineyards for an afternoon polo picnic in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Last week, James King shared with us the history of King Family wine and Roseland Polo, a Sunday tradition for many locals. This week, see how we styled the looks for an early Fall afternoon at King Family! Shop these items and more at Darling Boutique, located on Charlottesville’s downtown mall!

Shoot Styled by Linnea White / Photography by Megan Tiernan / Hair & Make-up by Sarah Hatch of At Last

We arrived in style courtesy of the Monticello Wine Tour & Coach Company and our amazing driver for the day, Anna Quillon.

Next, we stopped in the tasting room for a bottle of Crosé and Cabernet Franc for our afternoon - both recommended by James King.

Q&A with Gabriela Zabalúa

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? If not the Charlottesville area, what brought you here?

I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Was born there and raised between US and Argentina. My father was at the Embassy and as a diplomat, we traveled around. After 11 years as editor in chief of a magazine for AARP, I decided to start my own communications company. Looking for a more peaceful and slower paced life, I moved to Charlottesville from DC in February, where I met John Ince, Charlottesville Country Properties (Nest). I have since been enjoying my life between the city and the farm, were we have horse, dogs, a cat and 6 chickens.

Talk about your collaboration with Darling Boutique.

Darling gets it. They totally related to the look and feel of the robes and understood their originality and versatility. I don’t know about you, but, I need clothing that adapts to my mood and that I can style in different ways to get me through the day. These robes are exquisite as such, but they can also be dressed up with some jewelry and heels and worn as a wrap dress to “flow” around in the city at night. Or, belted on top of a pair of skinny jeans. Wear them any way you want, and you will feel fabulous. When the partners at Darling saw the robes, they immediately started brainstorming to make their introduction to Charlottesville a successful one.

Share the story behind Mrs. R. What inspired the pieces?

Two dear childhood friends from Argentina design these. They travel a great deal and like to collect fabrics from major cities and remote places around the world. They don’t work outside of the home, but felt the need to look and feel luxurious and put together without having to “dress up.”

Describe Mrs. R robes in 10 words or less.
