It’s my favorite weekend of the year in Charlottesville! Or one of them. In my top 5 - definitely. And my sartorial moment of film festival street style. I love The Virginia Film Festival, and have attended every year since I was a 4th year student at UVa – that's 10 years in a row! It's been an incredible decade of celebrating film - local and international. Here's my list of film picks for this year's festival!Read More

Well, hey there, 60 degree weather on February 1st! With Spring arrivals coming in the shop now, and apparently random Spring temperatures, we decided it was time to hit the city in transitional Spring style featuring the trench coat of all trench coats - Burberry.
The trench coat is a classic closet staple, and it doesn't get much more classic than a Burberry. The trench is timeless, effortless, and oh-so-chic. It is also an ideal outwear piece for transitioning from Winter or Spring (or Summer to Fall).
Keeping the outfit underneath clean and simple, this crisp white Banana Republic blouse was the perfect compliment to a leather panels khaki Anthropologie skirt. Add a red lip (locally made, of course) and this stunning red Kate Spade arm candy, this outfit is screaming "city slicker."
You'll see new versions of the trench hitting the racks this season, in softer textures and fabrics for a flowy layered Spring look. But this classic tailored Burberry trench is simply timeless, and is ready to hit the city streets.
On Linnea | Secondhand pieces: Burberry trench coat, 6, $500 / Banana Republic blouse, XS, $24 / Leifsdottir (Anthropologie) white leather panels skirt, 6, $78 / Kate Spade bag, $160 / Madewell booties, 7 1/2, $68 // Locally-made Pieces: Kitsune’s Closet Poppy Red Lipstick, $10
From Cannes to Charlottesville, from fashion to film, the season of the film festival is an exciting one. And it's that time of year in Charlottesville! The Virginia Film Festival begins tomorrow, November 3, and runs through Sunday, November 6, and brings the best of international, domestic, and local films to the theaters of Cville every year. And Darling is partnering with the festival to bring you the best of Virginia's film festival style. Giving a nod to the renown French film festival, and to the many black & white and historical film screenings happening at Vinegar Hill Theater, I styled this adorable VFF Intern, Lucie Lyon, in a black & white, European-inspired ensemble. It all began with the j'adore sweater, and quickly became a modern, chic look with classic elements - like the red lip and locket-look necklace, declaring our love for Virginia and this wonderful festival. The mod mini skirt, silk scarf, geometric clutch, and platform booties give this look a modern edge, perfect for the cultured film go-ers of today.
Darling adores the Virginia Film Festival! How will you get styled for the weekend festivities? Leave a comment or show us your #vffstyle on Instagram, and win two ticket vouchers, available for pick up at the shop!
