Coffee Date Style | How to Wear Spring Layers

Linnea White

When Spring doesn't look or feel like Spring, and the chilly days linger a little too long, don't let the weather steal your Spring vibes. Play with romantic layers and lacy textures this season to keep the ethereal magic of Spring alive. It's the ideal palette for rainy day coffee date style. For this rainy day Spring look, we visited one of our favorite spots on the mall - The Pie Chest. Not only are we pie addicts (I think I've tried just about every one), but we're also coffee addicts, and there's no place that makes us a better brew than Milli Coffee Roasters. The cute shop is the coziest getaway from the chilly rain, and a crisp backdrop for this outfit.

Romantic vibes are big this season, from the runway to the sale rack. And this lacy kimono is the perfect layering piece for those chilly Spring days, all while keeping that ethereal, romantic vibe. This flowy Maeve Anthropologie blouse in such a rich teal hue is a gorgeous compliment to the cream lace. And with rainy, 50 degree days in May (we can't even), these cutout suede booties are an easy addition to just about any Spring outfit. (Find some booties style inspiration here.)

This outfit is pretty much all about the accessories, though, featuring so many beautiful new arrivals from our local artisans in the shop. From the necklace to the earrings to the cuffs, the new pieces by Free Range & Feral is absolutely stunning in all its boho glory. And the leather handmade foldover clutch by Petaline is available in a variety of fabric/leather combinations. Not to be forgotten, the finishing touches on every outfit - locally made cosmetics by Kitsune’s Closet. Because what's a coffee date without the perfect lipstick stain on your mug?

Friendsgiving Style |Dressing Up with Darling

Linnea White

friendsgiving8_mt.jpg

Friendsgiving - the autumnal celebration of harvest and all things delicious with your dearest friends. It's Thanksgiving with a casual, cozy spirit. When thinking about any feast, I always reach for comfort (no belts, no tight waistbands, it's feasting time). This Sienna Sky printed dress is perfect for Fall, from the color to all the layering possibilities. I paired it with the coziest vest (already sold!) and the warm cognac leather of these J. Crew boots. The raw crystal jewelry by Owl Ridge Farmstead complimented the look perfectly. And, of course, I had to feature some of the amazing new products coming soon to the shop by Kitsune's Closet! The rich Noir Red nail polish is a hot color this season, and the brand new lipstick color, Mulberry, brings a rich, dark plum color to the ensemble.

Get inspired for your upcoming Friendsgiving fête, and stop by the shop to shop the look (and so much more!).

Darling, You've Got Style: How to Rock a Top Knot

Linnea White

MG_5791.jpg

The blonde Darling duo loves to rock a topknot, a bun, a throw-it-up-and-go hairstyle that works for our day-to-day routines of shop life, teaching barre, and all the things. Whether long hair or short hair, half-up or full bun, classically neat or tousled, the topknot is one of the season's hottest hairstyles. Not sure how to make it work? Get inspired, darlings.

All images via Pinterest (so also check out Pinterest).

The Messy TopKnot

AKA The Bedhead Bun. The messier the better. No twisting or fancy technique here. Just find a way that works for your hair to throw it up with an elastic and look fab.

The Ballerina Bun

You can’t go wrong with the classic ballerina bun. Place is high on the crown of your head (for ultimate chic-ness). For longer hair (for ultimate twist magic). Start with a high, tight pony tail. Brush it out and tighten the elastic. Twist the ponytail around and around into a bun, fastening with pins. Keep it neat, or add light texture.

The Knotted, Twisted TopKnot

With high texture and high knot-titude, this look is a straight off the runways. Pull your hair into a pony tail on the top (back half) of your head. For medium to short hair, section your hair into two pieces and twist each section, crossing over and overlaying the sections for extra knotted goodness (think sculpting height versus a flat circle). For long hair, section your hair into four pieces, twist each piece, and cross the pieces together two at a time for extreme volume knot-titude (think a messy, knotted braid). Wrap with an elastic to hold (pins, too, if needed). Use a brush to tousle and add flyaways as desired.

The Half-Up Topknot

More casual and great for shorter hair styles. This half-up, half-down look can still have plenty of fashion knot-titude. For shorter hair, separate your hair higher on the crown of your head, leaving some above your ears. For longer hair, separate your hair by the ears. Twist the top half of hair into a topknot and fasten with an elastic. Simply! Tousle, texturize, curl, or straighten as desired.
