Designer for Less: Fall Style Edition

Linnea White

The weather may not be participating in Fall, but we are. And today it's all about rocking designer for less, thanks to the best consignment in Charlottesville. This suede-lush, flare jeans look is giving us serious seventies vibes for Fall days ahead.

Besides the obvious sexy seventies vibes of this look, we're rocking some amazing designer finds. From this timeless Prada utility jacket to the perfect Calypso St. Barth flare jeans to the stunning suede All Saints tote bag, this look is filled with secondhand scores you can write home about. "Hey, Mom, I started shopping consignment, and brought an entire outfit for the original price of just this pair of jeans!" I mean, my mom would be proud.

What do you love about consignment? The designer finds for less? The steals under $10? Tell us in the comments!

Going West in the Shearling Vest

Linnea White

We're going west(ern) with this faux shearling vest - the perfect layering piece for this transitional autumn weather. Because vest weather is upon us.

Shearling lined vests will forever be fashionable, says I, because they're comfortable, versatile, and chic. Fashionable and functional, the right vest can be worn as an extra layer under a jacket, or by itself for a lighter layer. Find one that fits your frame, and wear it close to your heart. Try layering it with soft, flowy fabrics for contrast, like this boho pattern dress or a floral number, or wear it over denim and a sweater for a casual, daytime cozy look.

Another Fall necessity for every darling gal - the lace up bootie. These leather beauties by Madewell carry the lug sole with a more Victorian heel and shape, perfect for dressing up or dressing down.

And if you aren't wearing tassels yet this season, get on that train - and do it all while supporting locally made jewelry. New artisan in the shop, Pan & Tea, is killing the fiber tassel game, from necklaces to earrings, she's your gal.

How are you styling vests this season? Loving the tassel trend as much as us?

Weekend Style: Totin' Around Town

Linnea White

Happy Small Business Saturday, darlings! We've loved handing out these adorable tote bags to our lovely customers today, designed by Rifle Paper Co. for American Express and Small Business Saturday. And it's such a beautiful Fall day to be totin' around town, rockin' that weekend style, and shoppin' small across the mall. It's just so darling, we even styled an outfit for the weekend adventures - naturally.

The Fall leaves on the ground and the vibrant primary colors of this outfit created an Autumnal technicolor display on which our darling Meredyth shines. This Maple (Anthropologie) wrap skirt was the origin of this outfits bold, bright beauty, and the Qupid blue booties and Far Away from Close green sweater were the icing on the cake. Add a bold Darling Red lip locally made by Kitsune's Closet and handmade, local artisan jewelry featuring the vibrant blue Lapis stone, and this outfit is ready to hit the weekend streets. Oh, and you can't forget your #shopsmall tote bag for all your holiday shopping at local businesses!

The Perfect Pie Day: Thanksgiving Style

Linnea White

This collaboration was much anticipated by the Darling team. We tried to ignore the rumbling in our tummies as we rummaged the racks for our perfect Thanksgiving Style outfits. This past weekend, the perfect pie weather descended upon Charlottesville, and we made our way up to 4th Street to The Pie Chest for a little pre-Thanksgiving pie - in Darling style. Because you can never have too much pie.

As diverse as the pies were before us on the table are these darling gals modeling the clothes for you. What fun to style outfits for these unique, one-of-a-kind beauties! And for this styled shoot, it was all about that Fall fashion - Thanksgiving edition.

When a feast is on the books, I say a dress is the way to go - something stretchy, flowy, and still adorable. Leave the control top tights in the drawer, and throw on a cozy sweater. (Layers are also key for those body temperature shifts during digestion.) Or, you can always opt for a billowy blouse and cute pants (easily unbuttoned) for that table-side style. Whatever you choose, let your individual darling style shine, adding flavors and colors to the Smörgåsbord on the table.

May your holiday be filled with joyous laughter, tranquil rest, and a full heart. It's time to gather together!
