Designer for Less: Fall Style Edition

Linnea White

The weather may not be participating in Fall, but we are. And today it's all about rocking designer for less, thanks to the best consignment in Charlottesville. This suede-lush, flare jeans look is giving us serious seventies vibes for Fall days ahead.

Besides the obvious sexy seventies vibes of this look, we're rocking some amazing designer finds. From this timeless Prada utility jacket to the perfect Calypso St. Barth flare jeans to the stunning suede All Saints tote bag, this look is filled with secondhand scores you can write home about. "Hey, Mom, I started shopping consignment, and brought an entire outfit for the original price of just this pair of jeans!" I mean, my mom would be proud.

What do you love about consignment? The designer finds for less? The steals under $10? Tell us in the comments!

The Fabric of the Season: Velvet, Part 1

Linnea White

We have a serious velvet crush. The fabric of the season is so soft and luxurious you'll be touching (and wearing) these chic pieces all season long.

As cooler days befall, there’s one trend we’re falling for: velvet. The quintessentially 90s trend has made a definitive comeback this Fall, dominating runways from Paris to New York. Lucky for you, darling, velvet pieces are finding their way into the shop, giving you a chance to get in on the nostalgia.

This Express black velvet dress came in and gave me all the feels - literally. I put it on and felt instantly chic, in that 90s nostalgic kind of way. For a little night out inspiration, I paired these a-mah-zing Michael Kors sky high pumps and a vampy lip for a chic little black dress ensemble. Added bonus: a flowy kimono from Urban Outfitters that looked oh-so-beautiful in the wind. Way to go, nature, thanks for taking this outfit up a notch.

What do you think of the velvet trend?

Autumnal Hues: Falling for Oxblood

Linnea White

DSCF3117_cropped.jpg

Happy November, darlings! It's a new month, and Autumn is upon us. And that means the season of rich Autumnal hues and cozy Fall layers is also upon us - praise! Burgundy, bordeaux, black currant - it's peek season for rich reds and deep plums. Think oxblood, that rich purple/red hue. This universally flattering palette is easily mixed and matched for a head-to-toe look, or blended with other warm Fall hues, like rust (Potter's Clay), mustard (Spicy Mustard), and blush pinks (Dusty Cedar).

Darling shop gal, Meredyth, is styled in a Maria D coat that brings out the auburn hues in her hair, and plays with the oxblood tones of her lace top. Topped with locally made accessories and the perfect lace up Born booties, this outfit is ready for every Fall adventure.

Chilly mornings and warm, sunny days. It's the perfect weather to rock a vest. From shearling to shaggy, fur to faux, this Fall, vests are making a comeback. Vests are the ideal transitional piece in long or short silhouettes. Worn chic and belted or boho and layered, the vest is a great addition to your Fall wardrobe. We styled our intern Grace in one dress worn two ways - showing off two vests in the shop.

Autumn Hues | Dressing Up with Darling

Linnea White

MG_5298.jpg

Sweater weather is finally here! We have a serious love for Fall, and this week's Dressing Up with Darling is all about autumn hues (more tomorrow!) and light layers. Chillier mornings and evenings call for practical layers. This Eileen Fisher jacket is the perfect Fall throw-on jacket for transitioning from Summer to Fall. Layered with a stunning silk blouse, simple booties, and rustic jewelry, this outfit is ready for whatever highs and lows a Virginia Fall day may throw your way.

And and speaking of Autumn hues, we'll be talking about the Pantone Fall 2015 Color Report tomorrow. Today's outfit features many of the Pantone Fall colors. The jacket is the perfect Pantone Stormy Weather - think the sky on a grey, overcast day. The silk top and leather bracelet capture the Pantone Color of the Year, Marsala, a winey red-brown, rich and warm in earthiness. The leather booties are the ideal Pantone Reflecting Pond blue. And let's not forget about that amazing sliced antler collar necklace in the Pantone Oak Buff hue.
