Black and White: The Overalls Trend

Linnea White

It's everywhere this season - the overalls trend. Not everyone was as cool as me, struttin' around in their Oshkosh overalls back in 93', so in case you missed out on the overalls thing as a kid, don't worry - they're adult friendly now.

I have to admit - I love overalls. The right pair for the right person are for sure adorable. I scored a vintage Levi's pair last Fall at the shop that gave me LIFE, and I can't wait to wear them all Spring long. Sadly, this black vegan leather pair by Free People sold the day I put them on the floor, which just speaks to how hot this trend really is right now. (Don't worry, another pair of Levi's overalls came in this week, size 0, so all you skinny girls, get in here to snag 'em before they're gone.)

Another trend you'll see this season is the come back of a classic black and white ensemble. From color blocking to pattern play, I'm so excited to see this simple, chic look make a statement this season. For an LA/West Coast vibe, I paired these overalls with a relaxed white T-shirt (and my freaking amazing new Frye snakeskin booties) for an outfit that is all play, no work. Add a pair of oversized Lennon sunglasses and understated, crip accessories, all locally made, of course. Can't get enough of the amazing stacking rings by Thicket Jewelry at only $12 a pop, and her new bar studs, too.

What do you think of the overalls trend, darling? How would you rock it?

Sweater Weather: Cozy Winter Knits

Linnea White

Happy first day of Winter, darlings! The sweater weather is in full force, and the cozy Winter knits are many in the shop. Get inspired this week for all those holiday gatherings ahead.

To be honest, the fresh silvery locks inspired the color palette of this outfit, loving the silver white highlights in play with the lavender hues of the Free People blouse and sweater. Any sweater with extra long, chunky sleeves calls for cozy cuddles on Christmas morning with a mug of cocoa. With a pair of stretchy second-skin jeans and staple boots, this outfit is ready for that holiday with family and friends. Add a statement choker, like this locally made pieces with howlite spikes, and a plum lip for an extra level of drama.

The Fabric of the Season: Velvet, Part 1

Linnea White

We have a serious velvet crush. The fabric of the season is so soft and luxurious you'll be touching (and wearing) these chic pieces all season long.

As cooler days befall, there’s one trend we’re falling for: velvet. The quintessentially 90s trend has made a definitive comeback this Fall, dominating runways from Paris to New York. Lucky for you, darling, velvet pieces are finding their way into the shop, giving you a chance to get in on the nostalgia.

This Express black velvet dress came in and gave me all the feels - literally. I put it on and felt instantly chic, in that 90s nostalgic kind of way. For a little night out inspiration, I paired these a-mah-zing Michael Kors sky high pumps and a vampy lip for a chic little black dress ensemble. Added bonus: a flowy kimono from Urban Outfitters that looked oh-so-beautiful in the wind. Way to go, nature, thanks for taking this outfit up a notch.

What do you think of the velvet trend?

The Statement Choker

Linnea White

In honor of Throw Back Thursday (#tbt) and this current trend, I styled a Fall outfit that incorporates one of our many leather chokers available in the shop. The statement choker is in this season, in a big way, and this arrowhead choker has us feeling like a boho goddess, courtesy of Free Range & Feral.

The rich mulberry color of the leather choker pulls out the beautiful hues in this flowy Anthropologie blouse, and, of course, was the perfect match with our very own Kitsune's Closet Mulberry lipstick. These super soft, distressed AG jeans are the perfect relaxed fit to wear from season to season. Add a pair of easy booties and a light jacket for the crisp Fall weather.

How will you wear the choker trend this season?

Darling Celebration: The Blog is Back!

Linnea White

After a few months away, the blog is back! And that's something worth celebrating. Two months ago, I became the sole owner of Darling Boutique, and it's been a crazy ride these last few weeks. I'm honored to be a lady boss on 1st Street, and I couldn't help but twirl with joy on 1st Street in this party number. I'm also thrilled to be working with local photographer, Tristan Williams, to produce new darling style inspiration, bring new faces to the blog, and celebrate this altogether beautiful life. Be you, darlings. The you God created you to be. Live each day close to your Creator, who created you to create. Never lose your wonder. Live abundantly, live wisely, live boldly, live creatively. And that includes your wardrobe! Now let's get to dressing up with Darling!

xo, Linnea

Back in Black

I felt like celebrating the relaunch of the blog, and this Anthropologie fringe top and Calypso St. Barth silk maxi skirt brought the party - with a little flare. Fringe is all the rage this season, and this fringe top was made for twirling and all the Fall fetes. From jeans and boots to a skirt and heels, this top is versatile and, most importantly, fun. Add an on-trend grey nail polish and a red lip, both locally made by Kitsune's Closet, and this outfit is made for any Fall occasion - like being a shop girl, all day, every day.
