Twirling into Spring with Meredyth

Linnea White

Spring has arrived, and it's time to start dressing like it. So we're twirling into Spring with one of our darling gals, Meredyth.

This floral dress is just stunning, the perfect twirling dress, right?! And Meredyth looks so elegant in it. Shades of grey with touches of color are a great way to transition from Winter to Spring, and this dress and jacket pair effortlessly for an easy Spring look.

What's your favorite piece to transition from Winter into Spring, darling?

How to Wear Leather Shorts Like a Rockstar

Linnea White

"Seeing double double, Double Vision." These leather shorts have me channeling my inner rockstar. (Thanks, Foreigner, for everything.) And now I'm talking a bit about how to wear leather shorts, because this outfit is just one of the endless ways you can wear this statement item.

The How To: Do You

Try dressing them down with a white t-shirt and a jean jacket, or glam it up with sky high heels and a sleek blouse. Wear them in the Summer with sandals and a slinky tank top, or wear them in the Winter with tights, booties, and a chunky sweater. (I wasn't kidding, the options are endless.) Sure, I could show you a bunch of photos of how to wear them for style inspo, but that's just more of the same. You wear them YOUR way, with your personal style, your beautiful booty, and your confidence.

I recently watched the documentary Iris on Netflix, and fell deep in love with this style icon. There is much to learn from this woman, and this documentary, about personal style and how to shop like a pro. But perhaps most importantly, I learned about the lifelong journey of style. The more you discover who you are, the more you discover your personal style. I may have never had silver hair a few years ago, or thought twice about it, but here I am, and I feel more like myself than ever. Whether you're wearing a t-shirt and jeans or leather shorts and a vivaciously vibrant blazer, it's all about how you wear the clothes, not the other way around. Confidence, ladies. It goes a long way.

"There's no how-to road map to style. It's about self-expression, and, above all, attitude." - Iris Apfel

Spring Florals and Flats: Flirty Style

Linnea White

Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking. - The Devil Wears Prada

Ok, so, Spring florals may not be new, trendy, or groundbreaking, but they sure are cute and the perfect way to brighten your wardrobe with that Spring-spiration (proud of that pun, y'all).

A touch of floral makes the day bright, and the outfit right (I've had too much caffeine, clearly). We love the contrast of a classic, tailored pant with the boho sleeves and flowy fabric of this white blouse. Talk about easy, breezy, CoverGirl. The Charlie ankle pant from Anthropologie is a classic style, and they've produced it in a variety of patterns or colors of the years. This pair's pink and orange floral pop on that green base.

I about died when the J. Crew flats came in to the shop in the same hue of orange. Fun flats for Spring are pouring in to the shop, and so worth finding the perfect pair for your foot. Make sure they're comfortable and not just good-lookin'!

Don't forget to add a pink lip and a bolder fuchsia nail color as you move boldly into your Spring wardrobe. It's time! Seize the Spring day!

The Moto Jacket: How to Wear Blush Pink

Linnea White

It's Valentine's weekend, and this outfit has me blushing in blush pink. The duality of this flirty, feminine look lies in the moto jacket - adding a touch of edge to an otherwise sweet outfit, while also softening the black base with a soft, pale pink hue. It's sugar and spice, and everything nice.

Working the Moto Jacket

I've been waiting for an outfit that would let me work that "editor drape" with a structured jacket for a laidback-chic look. And this moto jacket from Loft was the perfect piece to pull it off. I love how the architecture of the jacket plays with the soft velvet and suede bottoms, and textured knit of the strapless Free People top. Soft and tough playing together in an effortless way (especially with those soft curls!).

This outfit has me blushing from more than just the fabric. Working with Tristan Williams for the blog has been a treat, and this shoot wow-ed me. This guy is a mega talented photographer, and after my recent hair makeover, I was stunned at how he captured the new hair, the outfit, the whole essence of the look. Props to Tristan, y'all.

How to Wear Blush Pink this Spring

Blush pink has me all sorts of excited for Spring. Blush is a sophisticated, endearing, elegant shade of pink, which normally isn't a color I'm drawn to. And don't be fooled - whether you have the skin tone or the right hair color to pair with blush hues, you can wear it, and work it. How can you wear blush pink, you ask? Take a note from this outfit for a few key tips to wearing blush hues this Spring.

  • Pair it with colors that flatter your skin tone. Blush pink may not be one of your colors, but it certainly pairs with a lot of other colors. Try it with navy, black, chocolate, olive green, charcoal grey, oxblood, teal, plum, or even deep lavender - rich tones to balance out the muted, washed out tone of blush. Warm or cool colors pair well with this accent color.
  • Anchor it. Keep blush rooted in your outfit to avoid the washed out, light qualities. Pairing it with dark colors is a way to anchor it, and so it wearing a blush piece (like this jacket) with an elongating base (like these black leggings).
  • Accessorize like a lady. If wearing a blush top or piece next to your face won't do with your skin tone, try adding it to your look with accent pieces - bags, shoes, belts, etc. It makes for a stunning leather accessory, neutral in its shade and easily workable into many outfits.

Sweater Weather, Part 2: Casual Christmas Style

Linnea White

Whether you're meeting the parents, or just hanging with your parents, this Christmas weekend of gatherings is here, and it's time to get cozy chic, or chicy cozy. Casual Christmas style is an art of balancing chic with comfort, and layering strategically for fireside hangs and post-dinner digestion cold flashes.

Why not play with reds for a festive look for all the feasts and frolicking? This patterned sweater is the perfect layering piece for the Christmas weekend, feeling seasonal without shouting "DECK THE HALLS!"

Try pairing a patterned open sweater over a basic sweater. Keep the details interesting, like the cream ruffles hem of the bottom layer, and intentional, like the red pattern of the leather clutch for a little pattern play.

Wear a pair of cute, and comfortable, booties for an elevated look that's also ready to frolic and play outside after dinner with the nephews. And legging style pants with a lot of stretch are a MUST for any big meal gathering.

Don't forget your red lipstick (locally made, naturally) and a cute antler necklace for festive touch and the finishing touch on that casual Christmas style!

What are you wearing for the Christmas gatherings this weekend? What's your favorite way to embrace the sweater weather?
