Earthly Renewal: Using God’s Creation to Remain Connected and Fruitful
Let’s dive into an aspect of creation that speaks to you. Is it the crashing waves of the ocean? The shapes of clouds? The late night sounds of crickets? The sound of snow crunching beneath your feet?
Regardless the one (or multiple) you choose, it was all created as a reminder. A reminder of the power of our Lord. It connects to our lives for reasons we just haven’t taken the time to glance at — it is a correlation of how we view the Lord and His connection with us.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
The Lord calls us to nature. It can help us see His beauty and the message He is sending us in whatever season. Oh, how great is He.
I was recently in a season of my life that had me in utter fear of change and transition. I had many sleepless nights wondering what was to come. One morning I woke up just before dawn, and I had the urge to sit on my roof and watch the sunrise. As the sun was just peaking over the mountains, I got this overwhelming sense of peace. Yes, there is darkness at times where we feel lost and cannot see our feet in front of us, but there is always a dawn. A new season to enjoy and watch as the path takes us higher and higher just as the Sun rises. The Lord needed me to see that sunrise that day — to ease my worries and fears.
Everything is created with a purpose. That purpose can been seen differently and uniquely in each of our eyes. Sometimes we don’t even see the beauty in one aspect of nature until someone points it out.
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?
In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.
To show you this beauty, watch the magic that happens with the chirping of crickets. What a joy it is to see how the Lord put effort into the smallest details.
